Soura Film Festival is a queer film festival that sheds light on cinematic talents from the SWANA region.

The festival’s mission is to create a welcoming space for filmmakers whose work challenges heteronormativity and patriarchal systems, exploring queerness and its broader meaning.

Queerness, as seen by the festival, goes beyond LGBTQ+ issues, addressing themes like feminism, migration, and human relationships that defy oppressive norms. In the SWANA (South West Asia & North Africa) region, queer communities have been politically engaged, opposing criminalizing laws and advocating for change.

As a queer man myself, I had the great pleasure of documenting the 4 days of the festival, the panel discussions and interactions with all attendees. Photo was the priority here, however an after-movie highlighting the key events of the festival is soon coming.
